Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

September 10, 2020

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has become a well-known affliction, documented widely and believed to impact the lives of many first responders, military veterans, victims of violent crimes and those who have experienced traumatic incidents. Many of the Firefighters that responded to the 9-11 bombings, in New York, have been treated for PTSD.

Trauma-related disorders occur after experiencing a distressing or catastrophic event and includes acute stress disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder.  A trauma-related disorder often follows severe incidents, such as a car accident, an on the job accident, or any number of catastrophic occurrences.
